"To feel. 'Cause you've never done it, you can never know it. But it's as vital as breath. And without it -- without love, without anger, without sorrow -- breath is just a clock ticking."

Mary O'Brien is the epitome of all emotion. She believes the purpose of life is feeling, and is up against a world that lacks this belief. A bona fide sense offender and proud of it, Mary's a member of the Underground, spending much of her time in the Nethers -- the last remaining parts of cities after World War III.

Mary also happens, unfortunately, to be dead -- executed by ~~the writers, who changed the end of the movie~~ Clerics & Sweepers for her sense offenses after interrogation. While John Preston, sort of paramour, tried to rescue her, he was far too late for any actual influence.

Appearance-wise, she's about five feet and four inches tall, with blue eyes, white skin, and long brown hair.
